Women in Exile is proud to announce that our colleague Elizabeth Ngari
is one of sixteen feminist activists and leaders from different European
countries who have been selected as the 2024 “Susan Treadwell Award
Winners”. The Susan Treadwell Memorial Award is an initiative of the
Mediterranean Women’s Fund and the Open Society Foundation and
recognises activists who support women on all fronts in Europe.
Susan Treadwell was fully committed to the intersectional and
anti-racist feminist movement. In the various positions that Susan
Treadwell held at the Open Society Foundation, she always paid special
attention to defenders of women’s human rights, migrants and LGBTIQ+
communities. She did everything in her power to support them in their
aspirations.
The ceremony took place online on 26 June 2024. It included the
presentation of the Susan Treadwell Memorial Award by the Mediterranean
Women’s Fund and the Open Society Foundation, followed by short speeches by each of the award winners.
