Women in Exile e.V. is looking for sustaining members! Through many small but regular donations we can ensure the continuity of our work – there is a lot to do!
Our book:
Breaking
borders to
build bridges
is out now!
WHAT WE DO
camp visits
We visit the isolated lagers in Berlin-Brandenburg and meet with refugee women to exchange experiences. This way we find out about the living conditions in each specific Lager and together we look for collective strategies on how to improve them.
EMPOWERMENT
We organize seminars and empowerment workshops for refugee women to improve their difficult living situation and develop perspectives to fight for their rights in the asylum procedure and to defend themselves against sexualized violence, discrimination, and exclusion.
SOLIDARITY
We are part of different anti-racist and feminist networks and together we plan and organize actions. We demonstrate, give interviews to the media and take part in public events like podium discussions, panels, radio, etc. to let society know about the problems faced by refugee women and their demands.
WHO WE ARE
Refugee Women for Refugee Women
Women in Exile is an initiative of refugee women founded in Brandenburg in 2002 to fight for their rights.
Double Discrimination
We have made the experience that refugee women are doubly discriminated against not only by racist laws in general but also as women.
Platform for Women
Our organisation is a platform for refugee women. We bring the inhumane living conditions of refugee women to the public and develop strategies for political change.
Feminist Organisation
We see ourselves as one of the few bridges between the refugee movement and the women’s movement. It was in this spirit of solidarity that Women in Exile and Friends was created in 2011 and activists without a refugee background joined us.
Our demands
Our fundamental political goal is a just society without exclusion and discrimination, with equal rights for all, irrespective of where they come from and where they go to.
In concrete policy terms, we focus on the abolition of all laws discriminatory to asylum seekers and migrants and on the interconnections of racism and sexism.
No lagers for women and children!
Abolish all lagers!
