Dear supporters and friends of Women in Exile,
We want to thank you for your support in 2013 and give you a few highlights from our last year activities:
- We have a new homepage. There we want to provide information and space for exchange with different languages, which will be helpful to refugees and other women activists
- Our first newsletter is published. We hope it will be printed out and delivered to refugee women in the Lager in many places: https://www.women-in-exile.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/newsletter_1.pdf
- We have been demonstrating in Potsdam and Berlin several times for our demand No Lager for Women! Close all Lager! In Potsdam, where we were protesting together with other refugee organisations against planed Container-Lager, our protest was successful: The town stopped the plans for the Containers and accommodates in flats now.
- Our “call for a step against violence against women” was handed over to the national ministry for women on the 25th of November, the international day against violence against women. We will get in touch with the new minister concerning our demands as soon as possible.
And now the first news in 2014:
Since the first of January we have a room in Potsdam, which we call so far “our office”. Here we want to create a space which refugee women can call their own, even when it is sometimes only for one day. A place where they can find advice, support and most important: sisters and friends. Here the campaign will be coordinated and we will try to combine lobby, advice and grass root work.
We know that this is a big challenge. Therefore we look forward to have you on our side.
Your interest in our work motivates and encourages us. If you want to be informed by our Info-mails continuously about our work, please send an email to: info@women-in-exile.net
Exchange news with us! On our web-blog you find a space for refugee women and activists in refugee women issues to leave messages on what is happening in your areas and to exchange information: http://women-in-exile.net/category/austausch/
If you live or work in Berlin or Brandenburg, you can also help us to reach refugee women: Simply print out our newsletter or our brochure for them.
And last but not least: We are also glad about financial support, Also small donations are making a difference, when they are regular, because they help a lot to to plan our work.
Once again: Happy New Year! And best wishes,
Elisabeth Ngari,
for Women in Exile
